About Ankargården
Ankargården – a hotel with soul, sea, and history
In the heart of idyllic Öregrund, just a stone’s throw from the sea, lies Ankargården – a place where historic charm meets thoughtful hospitality. You stay in one of the town’s oldest buildings, built in 1886 as part of the original city hotel. The house has lived many lives – from seaside café to hostel – before being reborn in 2012 as a hotel and conference venue under the leadership of Camilla Mattsson.
Since taking over, Camilla has carefully renovated every part of the house, added new bathrooms, and given each room its own character. With a background in both culture and gardening, she has created an environment where guests are greeted by roses, butterflies, and a blooming garden – a place to exhale. Ankargården is not just any hotel. It’s a home.
A place to return to
The rooms are individually decorated, several with maritime themes. You’ll sleep in comfortable beds, enjoy a quiet evening – perhaps with a good book or a board game close at hand. In the morning, breakfast is served with homemade bread, jam, and – when the mood strikes – a freshly baked quiche. Preferably enjoyed in the garden, surrounded by fragrant flowers and buzzing bees.
The little extra – and the personal touch
Camilla’s presence is felt throughout your stay. Whether you’re here for a conference, a family vacation, or a solo hiking trip, you’ll feel seen. She’s happy to share tips on activities, restaurants, or the best spot for an evening swim. For many guests, it’s that personal attention that brings them back – year after year.
